Program Description
Dramatic quilt with 3 dimensional elements. Learn dressmaker’s trick for turning points, invisible machine applique, and decorative machine applique.

Fabric
2 3/4yds background NOTE: I used 2 different fabrics for checkered effect
7/8 yds light fabric for “glow” NOTE: I used many fabrics for glow
26 Fat eighths for stars & centers NOTE: I used one fabric for centers
1 yd large floral for setting triangles
1 2/3 yds batik for border
Additional supplies
Invisible thread
Decorative thread for machine applique centers
Rotary cutter-small (28mm) cutter is useful to cut with templates
Rotary cutting mat-in addition to a regular size mat, a small mat which can be rotated is helpful. Rotating mat is also useful.
Rotary rulers: 6x24”, 16 ½” square ruler is very useful.
Fabric glue stick or Roxanne’s Glue Baste It
Cheap aluminum foil (Dollar Tree is good)
5x5” Square of card stock (I use file folder)
Fusible Web and Applique sheet if you will be fusing your center circles*
Sench Side threading needles or needles with eye large enough to thread w/2 strands
Sewing machine in good working order
Microtex sewing machine needles size 70,75, or 80.
Basic sewing kit including pins and good quality piecing thread.
*NOTE: I will demonstrate two methods of appliqueing your center circles.
Pre-Class Preparation
Although you each have a 6-foot table to use, there is limited elevated cutting space. I suggest you cut before class:
Background 12” squares
Template cutting for at least 3 blocks (points and “glow”)
